Qatar men’s padel team secures 3rd consecutive victory at Gulf Championship in Doha

In the decisive tie, Qatar’s Mohammed Saadon and Hassan Wali sealed the win with a commanding 6–1, 6–2 victory over Mohammed Abdullah and Hammoud Al Junaidel, giving the hosts their third straight triumph.

The men’s padel team from Qatar continued their winning streak at the ongoing Gulf Padel Championship, claiming their third consecutive win with a 2–1 victory over Kuwait on Wednesday evening in Doha.Ahead of the match, Qatar’s Hassan Wali took to social media to rally support: “Today we are facing Kuwait, and we need all your support and to see Qatar fans cheering for us. We have won two matches already on Monday and Tuesday. And God willing we will win again”.

And the team delivered. The Qatari pair Rashid Nawaf and Meshari Nawaf opened strongly, defeating Kuwait’s Hussein Shmais and Abdulrahman Al-Awadi in straight sets, 6–2, 6–3.

Kuwait fought back in the second match, with Fouad Behbehani and Abdulaziz Reda edging Qatar’s Mohammed Al Khenji and Khalid Saadon in a three-set battle, 4–6, 6–2, 6–3, leveling the score at 1–1.

In the decisive tie, Qatar’s Mohammed Saadon and Hassan Wali sealed the win with a commanding 6–1, 6–2 victory over Mohammed Abdullah and Hammoud Al Junaidel, giving the hosts their third straight triumph.

Mohammed Al Roumi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation, praised both the competition and the hosts, calling the Doha edition of the Gulf Padel Championship “one of the best and most competitive tournaments in the region.”

He highlighted Qatar’s organisational excellence, hospitality, and ability to create a welcoming atmosphere, adding that “this tournament truly reflects the spirit of Gulf unity, bringing together athletes and officials in a high-level competitive and professional environment.”

The championship, organised by the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, is being held at the Padel Inn courts until September 19, with six Gulf teams participating.

Earlier in the tournament, Qatar secured another 2–1 win over Saudi Arabia. Rashid Nawaf and Hassan Wali clinched the first match 6–2, 6–2, while Mohammed Saadon and Meshari Nawaf dominated the second 6–0, 6–0. However, Ali Al-Saadi and Khaled Saadon fell in the third match 5–7, 6–2, 0–6.

With three consecutive victories, Qatar has solidified its position as a leading contender in the championship, aiming to lift the trophy on home soil.
