Qatar Chamber, German Delegation Explore Cooperation in Industrial Sector

Doha, November 09 (QNA) - In cooperation with the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce Office in Qatar (AHK), Qatar Chamber hosted on Sunday a workshop with a German delegation representing the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), led by Ragnar Strauch. The Qatari side was chaired by Abdulrahman Al Ansari, Qatar Chamber Board Member and Chairman of its Industry Committee. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Martin Henkelmann, AHK's CEO, along with representatives from 12 leading German industrial companies operating in technology solutions in the fields of energy, industry, and petrochemical. In his remarks, Abdulrahman Al Ansari praised the strong relations between Qatar and Germany, stressing the remarkable development in bilateral cooperation over the past years, particularly in investment, trade exchange, industrial development, and technology transfer. He pointed out that Germany is one of Qatar's key trading partners, with the bilateral trade volume exceeding QR 6 billion last year, compared to QR 7.1 billion in 2023. He added that Qatar is among the largest investors in Germany, with investments exceeding EUR 25 billion across sectors such as automotive, telecommunications, financial services, hospitality, and real estate. He also emphasised the promising prospects for cooperation between Qatari and German businesses in various fields, including energy and renewable resources, sustainable infrastructure, logistics services, education, smart technology, and the pharmaceutical industries. Al Ansari reaffirmed the Qatar Chamber's commitment to strengthening partnerships between the two business communities and to benefiting from German expertise through joint ventures and industrial alliances, especially in value-added sectors such as manufacturing, renewable energy, advanced technology, and technical education. For his part, Ragnar Strauch said that the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) comprises 3,600 German industrial and engineering companies specialised in the manufacture of machines, pumps, valves and industrial devices across 35 sectors. He noted that 160 German companies are keen to invest in Qatar in various fields, most notably energy, industry, and petrochemicals. In turn, Dr. Martin Henkelmann highlighted the continuous visits of German business delegations to Qatar through the Qatar Chamber, noting that the current delegation includes 12 leading German companies in the fields of innovation, energy, industry, and automation, all eager to cooperate with Qatari firms and transfer their expertise to the Qatari market.
