China developed navigation before the Europeans did. Still, the Emperor dismantled his exploratory fleet because it had become a drain on the Imperial treasury, and his priority was to protect his borders. By contrast, Christopher Columbus found the “New World” in 1492; other Europeans followed, then murdered, raped, and pillaged their way to colonize and exploit most of the world. Now, centuries later, these historical and cultural distinctions remain. Today, the last European colonizer – Russia – pulverizes Ukraine, stokes conflicts globally, and just terrorized the world by testing powerful weapons of mass destruction. China, by contrast, has been waging “geo-economic war” with America over soybeans, critical minerals, and tariff rates. Beijing does not invade other countries and is a business-oriented government that runs the world’s second-largest economy. And last week, China and the US reached a truce in their tariff and trade dispute while Russia’s Vladimir Putin threatened Armageddon. The China-US geopolitical pivot is good news because its leaders pursue prosperity, job creation, and profits, not carnage and conquest. Their deal is Putin’s worst nightmare...
