Punjab announces up to Rs65,000 per month stipend for college teaching interns

LAHORE – The Punjab government has approved a stipend package worth 4.217 billion for intern teachers of colleges, aiming to support over 8,000 interns across the province. The initiative seeks to encourage young graduates and intermediate-level students to gain practical teaching experience in colleges. Stipend Details by Education Level Intermediate-level interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs55,000 per month for a duration of 7 months. Meanwhile, BS-level interns will be paid Rs65,000 per month for 10 months. Upon completion of their internship, all participants will be issued experience certificates, enhancing their professional credentials and employability. Inclusivity and Reserved Seats The program also emphasizes inclusivity, reserving 404 seats for minorities, 243 seats for persons with disabilities, and 40 seats for the transgender community. These measures ensure equal opportunities for all groups to participate in the teaching internship program. Funding Allocation A total of Rs4.217 billion has been allocated to cover stipends and other operational expenses associated with the program. Providing monthly stipends not only motivates interns to actively engage in teaching but also eases financial burdens, allowing them to focus on gaining valuable practical experience. This support fosters skill development, professional growth, and prepares interns for long-term careers in education.
