Puducherry businessman murdered in Ashok Nagar by his employee’s husband

A 31-year-old businessman from Puducherry was murdered in Ashok Nagar, Chennai on Wednesday afternoon, allegedly by the husband of a woman employee at his company. Ashok Nagar Police arrested three persons in connection with their alleged involvement in the murder. Police said the victim, Prakash of Papanchavadi, in Mudaliarpet in Puducherry ran a private firm that had a contract with the Puducherry Public Works Department for sewage clearance. He owned a suction lorry and managed the operations himself. On Wednesday, Prakash travelled to Chennai in a car along with his employee, Suganya of Nettapakkam, for business-related work. After dining with Suganya’s relative, Gunasundari, at a hotel in Ashok Nagar, the two left the venue in Prakash’s car. At that moment, Suganya’s husband, Dhananjeyan, 42, of Jafferkhanpet, arrived on a two-wheeler and allegedly attacked Prakash with a knife before fleeing with his wife on the same bike. Accused arrested Prakash, who suffered severe stab wounds, was rushed by 108 ambulance to K.K. Nagar Government Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Based on a complaint from Prakash’s father, the Ashok Nagar police registered a murder case. On investigation, police arrested Dhananjeyan, Suganya, 37, and Gunasundari, 27. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Suganya and Prakash had been schoolmates. After her marriage to Dhananjeyan, Suganya joined Prakash’s firm, and the two developed a close relationship, leading to family disputes on both sides. Suganya was living separately from her husband with her two sons. Investigations revealed that Gunasundari had informed Dhananjeyan that Suganya was visiting Chennai with Prakash and later helped identify their location in Ashok Nagar. Enraged, Dhananjeyan allegedly followed them and stabbed Prakash before escaping with Suganya. Gunasundari also fled on another bike.
