The planning and zoning commission will host a public hearing to review conditions for the proposed stadium revamp at Benet Academy.
LISLE, IL — A public hearing will be held Oct. 1 to further discuss plans to upgrade the stadium at Benet Academy. The meeting is a continuance from a Sept. 17 public meeting, at which petitioners asserted the project was exempt from Illinois Pollution Control Board regulations.
Petitioners are requesting a special use permit to allow for the planned unit development, along with a special use permit with departures and a special use permit for sports and recreational lighting.
Benet Academy is looking to revamp its athletic fields and Baumgartner-Gilbert Stadium. The project, which will comprise two phases, includes making improvements to the stadium’s scoreboards and its lighting and sound systems.
Conditions for the stadium’s lighting and sound were outlined after the Aug. 20 public hearing.
These conditions include installing a speaker system with volume limits that can be adjusted for smaller and larger events, not illuminating stadium lights in December, January or February, and not using RGB lighting. Some exceptions apply for football games and practices.
If conditions are violated repeatedly, the school may be subjected to a fine.
Per staff recommendations, cross-examinations will take place at the Oct. 1 meeting, with the planning commission set to deliberate the special use permit requests on Oct. 15.
