PTI airline service flies through US government shutdown

Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro is not expected to have “any immediate operational changes” on commercial passenger service due to the federal government shutdown that began on Wednesday.
The airport authority cautioned, however, that certain operations conducted by federal personnel could be slower or temporarily interrupted.
Commercial passenger airports are not directly affected by the shutdown, including airline flight schedules.
“The airport itself is not funded through the federal appropriations process that the shutdown affects,” the authority said.

“Passengers traveling through PTI should not expect major changes to their flights or airport services if a shutdown happens.
“Like the rest of the aviation industry, we monitor developments closely,” the authority said.
TSA and Customs & Border Protection officers are considered essential personnel, “so security screening and customs operations continue,” the authority said.
“However, during prolonged shutdowns, there is a risk of staffing shortages if employees face delayed pay.”
Federal Aviation Administration traffic controllers also remain on duty.
Training, hiring and some support functions may be paused, which can affect efficiency over time,” the authority said.
