Prostate cancer pathway available despite lack of screening

The health minister says a pathway is available for men suffering from prostate cancer symptoms, despite there being no screening programme on the Isle of Man. The Island follows the recommendation from the UK National Screening Committee that routine prostate screening can result in overdiagnosis and unnecessary treatment. Since 2022, more than 1,700 men have been referred to the pathway by their GP. Claire Christian told this week's sitting of the House of Keys that there's a lack of evidence screening for prostate cancer improves outcomes. But she's urging men to know the symptoms of the disease and contact their GP if they have any concerns
