Officers from West Midlands Police were carrying out an operation at Princess Alice Retail Park in Sutton Coldfield this week when they detained Kieran Brooks, who was wanted for theft. The 21-year-old, of Parkeston Crescent in Birmingham, was arrested and charged with 21 offences in total, including 18 shop thefts. Brooks appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was given a two week custodial sentence, and a two year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). The order means he can't enter Princess Alice Retail Park, or a shop on Kingstanding Road, and faces a further prison sentence if he does. Neighbourhood Inspector Hayley Thompson said: "Our officers work closely with business owners and staff every day to prevent shop theft, as we know that it's a concern for the local community. "We're completely committed to tackling the crime and bringing offenders to justice. "A team effort this week has led to the conviction of a prolific thief, and a CBO reinforces that we will do everything in our power to protect retail workers and keep our shopping areas safe. "I would always encourage local retailers to report thefts to us, and raise any concerns with our officers."
