KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Procurement Commission has approved 22 projects worth 3.5 billion afghanis, revised eight, and returned five others due to problems in the procurement process. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs said in a statement that 35 projects were presented for approval in a regular meeting of the National Procurement Commission today, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund. The statement said 22 projects worth 3.5 billion afghanis were given go ahead including eight projects with a series of amendments. Five projects were also returned due to problems in the procurement process. The Deputy Economic Affairs Office wrote that the approved projects include retaining walls, canals, inter-district roads in a number of provinces, the construction of a dormitory for a higher education institution in Maidan Wardak province, and the completion of pending electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces. The statement added that the approved projects are funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
