Prince William shared a rare insight into his childhood during an appearance on Canadian actor Eugene Levy’s travel series.
The royal, 43, opened up about the games he used to play when he was little during an episode of the Apple TV+ programme The Reluctant Traveler.
During the viewing, as they pair strolled around St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, King Charles’s son revealed how he used to run up and down the grand corridors.
‘My cousins and I and the family would chase each other up and down here,’ he fondly recalled. ‘And do silly games.’
The Prince of Wales grew up with and was especially close to his aunt Princess Anne’s kids, Zara Tindall, 44, and Peter Phillips, 47.
However, he admitted their antics could at times get dangerous – and would sometimes result in nasty splinters from the ancient oak flooring.
‘I remember these carpets weren’t here and there were a couple of spots where you used to have to watch out for,’ he recounted.
As he and Eugene continued chatting, William also said that his own children now also enjoy the space to play around in.
William revealed he would tear down the corridors with his cousins playing games but they would sometimes find themselves injured with large splinters (pictured together in 1987)

‘Now it’s a lot easier – my children don’t realise how lucky they are they’ve got a big old carpet. They can run down here and there’s no splinters,’ he continued.
‘We come in after hours and chase each other around sometimes’
The admission came in an episode where the heir to the throne gave the Schitt’s Creek star an exclusive personal tour of Windsor Castle as part of a ‘bucket list’ of experiences.
Elsewhere the Prince discussed how 2024 was the ‘hardest year he’s ever had’, opening up about his wife the Princess of Wales and father King’s cancer diagnoses.
‘We’ve been very lucky, we hadn’t had many illnesses in the family for a very long time,’ William explained.
‘My grandparents lived until they were in the high 90s. So, they were the vision of fitness, and stoicism, and resilience, if you like. So we’ve been very lucky as a family.
‘But I think, when you suddenly realise that the rug, if you were, the metaphorical rug can be pulled from under your feet quite quick at any point.
‘You maybe think to yourself: It won’t happen to us, we’ll be okay. Because I think everyone has a positive outlook, you’ve got to be positive.

‘But when it does happen to you, then it takes you into some pretty not great places.’
The actor and the prince also talked about William and Kate’s rules on tech when it comes to their kids.
He said the pair had imposed a ‘strict’ ban on the devices for Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven – especially during dinner time.
The Prince also revealed what his three children enjoy getting up to and showed that they are like any other siblings – revealing they even squabble.
‘Louis loves the trampoline, so he’s obsessed with trampolining and actually Charlotte does a lot as well,’ the royal shared.
‘As far as I can tell they just end up jumping up and down on the trampoline, beating each other up, most of the time. Apparently, there is an art to it.
‘Charlotte does her netball as well and her ballet and so keeping them busy with sports and being outdoors is really important.’
Last November, William described the year of 2024 which saw his wife the Princess of Wales and father King Charles III being treated for cancer as ‘brutal’.
He added in an interview that it had ‘probably been the hardest year in my life’ and a ‘dreadful’ experience.
Kate also previously talked about her cancer journey, describing in a video how the episode had been ‘incredibly tough for us as a family’ – but has also shared that she has been in remission.
‘The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy: Living the Royal Life in the UK’ will be on Apple TV+ from October 3. New episodes are out weekly until the October 31 finale
