Prince William has candidly discussed the “hardest year of his life” in a rare television appearance. The Prince of Wales joined Canadian comedian and actor Eugene Levy on his new show, The Reluctant Traveller, as Levy journeyed to London for a Royal experience. A fresh snippet from the programme, set to premiere on Apple TV on 3 October, has been unveiled, featuring Levy meeting Prince William at Windsor Castle. After receiving a handwritten note from William, the Schitt’s Creek star is treated to a personal tour of the Royal residence by the future King. William quipped: “We provide this service for everyone. We do personalised tours everywhere,” before they took a stroll around the estate. Following their tour, William and Eugene headed to the local pub for a pint. Here, the Prince of Wales openly discussed the challenges he and his family have faced over the past year, referencing both King Charles and Princess Kate’s cancer diagnoses within weeks of each other, reports the Mirror . In the heartfelt clip, William confesses: “I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had. You know, life is sent to test us as well, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.” The future king’s remarks mirror a similar sentiment he expressed late last year while on a solo trip to South Africa in November, discussing his wife and father’s battles with cancer. In a remarkably candid interview, William heaped praise on the courage shown by Kate and Charles, whilst acknowledging their health struggles had taken a toll on the entire family. He said at the time: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. “So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult. But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.” Throughout his visit, William confessed his Royal responsibilities had provided comfort during such challenging periods, as he revealed he had grappled with juggling home and professional commitments. He disclosed: “I couldn’t be less relaxed this year. It’s more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going. I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure that I have got time for my family too.” Eugene Levy’s programme The Reluctant Traveller tracks the Canadian performer as he embarks on discovering what the “ultimate travel bucket list” entails, taking him across Canada and the US, plus Austria, England, India, Ireland, Mexico and South Korea. Additional participants featured in the series include Canadian vocalist Michael Buble, Eugene’s daughter and fellow Schitt’s Creek performer Sarah Levy, K-pop group NOWZ and former Indian cricket star Rahul Dravid.
