According to ESPN’s Pat McAfee, President Donald Trump will be at Northwest Stadium on Sunday when the Washington Commanders host the Detroit Lions for their Week 10 matchup — a rematch of last season’s divisional round game. McAfee broke the news on his self-titled Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon. “Sources are telling me that President Donald Trump will be in attendance for this Washington Commanders game in the afternoon against the Detroit Lions,” McAfee said. “He will actually be there to celebrate the Veterans Celebration that is taking place at halftime. He’ll be sitting in owner Josh Harris’ box and he’ll be excited to celebrate the hell out of the greatest sport on earth, American football.” Shortly after the news broke, Commanders team president Mark Clouse issued a statement. “We are honored to welcome President Trump to the game as we celebrate those who have served and continue to serve our country,” Clouse said. “The entire Commanders organization is proud to participate in the NFL’s league-wide Salute to Service initiative, recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans, active-duty service members, and their families this Sunday.” Known to make appearances at college and professional sporting events, this marks the second time this year President Trump will attend a game featuring one of Detroit’s professional teams. In September, he attended a New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium, where they hosted the Detroit Tigers on the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Earlier in the year, Trump became the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl in February between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles before appearing at the Daytona 500 the next week, LIV Golf in April, and several UFC events. This is a developing story and will be updated.
