In a joint announcement witnessed by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Ghana’s Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu has revealed plans for a major digital transformation of the country’s education system. The initiative, unveiled during President Steinmeier’s official visit to Ghana, will be implemented in collaboration with several national agencies, including the Ministry of Education, the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), and the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS). As part of the programme, AMBYLON, an education technology firm, has been selected to support the integration of digital learning tools into Ghana’s national curriculum. The partnership aims to expand access to modern, inclusive and technology-driven education across all levels of schooling. Iddrisu noted that the collaboration aligns with government efforts to build an equitable education system that leverages technology to enhance learning outcomes. Implementation is expected to begin in 2026, with pilot programmes rolled out in select regions before a nationwide expansion. President Steinmeier’s presence at the announcement underscored the growing cooperation between Ghana and Germany in the field of education and technology. Further details of the partnership are being finalized among the participating institutions, which hope the project will contribute to Ghana’s broader digitalisation agenda.
