President Arthur Peter Mutharika has appointed journalist Cathy Maulidi as the new Press Secretary at State House, in a series of high-level government appointments announced Monday evening. According to a statement signed by Chief Secretary to the Government, Dr. Justin Saidi, Maulidi’s appointment takes immediate effect. Her appointment marks part of a broader restructuring move by President Mutharika aimed at strengthening government communication and advisory roles. Alongside Maulidi, the President has also appointed Counsel Frank Mbete as Attorney General, Gertrude Hiwa, SC, as Solicitor General, and Counsel Festino Maele as Director of Public Prosecutions. Other appointees include Henry Mukhuna, who becomes Chief Advisor on Manifesto Implementation, and Apostle Timothy Khoviwa, who assumes the role of Chief Advisor on Religious Affairs.
