President Bio and SLPP are not transparent about the Kush drug tragedy in Sierra Leone : We need the truth, Maada Bio

By Kabs Kanu One of the biggest problems facing Sierra Leone is the lack of transparency of the ruling SLPP Government. The President Maada Bio-led government is not transparent at all and rules Sierra Leone through secrecy. A government that claims to be studded with educated people cannot muster any modicum of transparency or accountability in dealing with the people’s business. Everyday since this SLPP Government came to power, it has been concealing information from the people. The SLPP Government does not understand the importance of transparency and accountability in governance and runs government through secrecy. Suddenly, after keeping Sierra Leoneans and the world in darkness about everything concerning the kush tragedy while dead bodies of the victims kept being picked up from the streets everyday, the government has started scrambling together efforts to combat the menace but it is not only too little, too late; the initiatives do not strike at the roots and core of the problem. Arrests being made so far do not impress the people because it is small fishes that are being apprehended. The big fishes behind the production and distribution of dangerous drugs are ignored and being allowed to carry on with the heinous proliferation and distribution unimpeded. The government has not been transparent about the real culprits of the kush and drugs menace. It is common knowledge that the kush syndicate involves high-ranking personalities in the SLPP Government and some members of the Bio family . Tongues are wagging and whenever there is a drug bust, the evidence points towards State House and top members of the SLPP, but the government has failed to come clean. The most credible evidence yet that the SLPP Government and President Bio are involved in the production, distribution and sale of kush and drugs emerged when convicted Dutch lord from the Netherlands , who is on the run, Bolle Jose , was found in the company of the Bio family .He was caught on camera and explosive photos helping President Bio harvest his farm at Tihun, his hometown . He was also caught in church with the daughter of President Maada Bio and news soon emerged that Bio had given his daughter’s hand in marriage to the fugitive international drug king pin. She recently allegedly had a baby for him. The Netherlands had made repeated appeals to President Bio and government to hand Bolle Jos back to their country, but nothing had been done by Bio to answer the request. Bio has thumbed his nose at Netherlands and the international community and Jos continues to live under the government’s protection in Sierra Leone, amidst damaging local and international press reports. Bio has not tried to explain anything to the people of Sierra Leone and the international community. With such intransigence and lack of transparency and accountability, how can anybody believe that President Bio and the SLPP Government are serious about the fight to end Kush and drug peddling in Sierra Leone ?
