Director Prasanth Varma has officially responded to allegations made by HanuMan producer K Niranjan Reddy, who accused him of taking over Rs 20 crore in advances without delivering the promised films. The filmmaker issued a detailed statement on X (formerly Twitter), denying all claims and calling them “false, baseless, and retaliatory.” Prasanth Varma releases official statement In his note, Prasanth wrote that he had seen social media pages and portals circulating a complaint filed by M/S Primeshow Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. but claimed they had published only selective portions of his reply. “The dispute between me and M/S Primeshow Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. is presently pending and under consideration before the Telugu Film Chamber/Telugu Film Directors' Association and is therefore sub-judice,” he said. The director further added that once a matter is before an industry forum, parties are not supposed to discuss it publicly. “Any attempt to publish internal pleadings, emails, agreements or financial details at this stage amounts to interference with the proceedings and is clearly intended to prejudice public opinion,” he noted, urging the media to refrain from further coverage until an official decision is announced. What is the whole controversy? Meanwhile, the HanuMan producer’s complaint, dated October 11, accuses Prasanth Varma of taking large advances but failing to deliver multiple projects, including Adhira, Mahakali, Jai Hanuman, and Brahma Rakshas. According to Reddy, Prasanth accepted around Rs 2 crore between 2021 and 2022 through cash and bank transfers, followed by Rs 8 crore in 2024 for upcoming films. The complaint also alleges that Primeshow spent Rs 15 lakh on the Adhira teaser. Reddy further claimed that Prasanth later informed him that Adhira would be directed by Vijay Binni, Mahakali by Pooja Aparna Kolluru, and that he had 'illegally' committed Jai Hanuman to Mythri Movie Makers and Brahma Rakshas to Hombale Films. The producer alleged total payments of over Rs 20 crore and demanded Rs 200 crore in compensation for project delays.
