We are officially in October, which means it’s just weeks away from the WBC junior middleweight title fight between the champion Sebastian Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) and Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) live on pay-per-view (PPV).
The event takes place on October 25 and will stream live on Prime Video PPV, traditional cable PPV, and PPV.com. On Wednesday, PPV.com posted the purchase price of $74.99 for the fight card headlined by Fundora-Thurman and supported by the co-main featuring WBC super featherweight champion O’ Shaquie Foster defending his title against current WBC featherweight champion Stephen Fulton Jr.
The price point of PPVs remains a topic of discussion in boxing. It has become so loud that the Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, mentioned lowering the price point of PPV events in 2024, which he initially proposed but has since seen a slow increase. $74.99 is a high price point for Fundora, who is just getting his name out there, and Thurman, who’s only fought twice in the last five years. This is the type of fight that needs the most eyeballs, and not just a limited amount, due to the cost of watching it. Ultimately, it’s up to you, the consumer, to decide whether this card is worth the purchase price of $74.99.
For details about the event, see the excerpt below from the press release sent out by Premier Boxing Champions when the fight was initially announced.
Fundora vs. Thurman will see WBC Super Welterweight World Champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora look to continue his 154-pound reign against the former unified world champion Keith “One Time” Thurman in the main event of a PBC Pay-Per-View on Prime Video taking place Saturday, October 25, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
In the co-main event, two-division world champion Stephen Fulton Jr., the reigning WBC Featherweight World Champion, will move up to take on WBC Super Featherweight World Champion O’Shaquie Foster in a 130-pound world title fight.
