PPP will not support 27th Constitutional Amendment: Nasir Shah

KARACHI: Minister for Local Government, Housing, and Town Planning, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) will not support any amendment that undermines the powers of the provinces or affects the public interest. He expressed these views while talking to the media on Thursday during his visit to the Pakistan Maritime Expo and Conference at Expo Centre Karachi. Provincial Minister of Balochistan, Ali Hassan Brohi, was also present on the occasion. Nasir Shah said, “We have a political weapon — the weapon of reconciliation and love — which we will use against those who talk about rolling back the 18th Amendment.” During his visit to the exhibition, the minister inspected various stalls. He said that holding an international maritime exhibition is a positive step. Delegations from more than 45 countries are participating in the PAIMEC exhibition, and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth 270 million dollars have been signed. He added that the Sindh government, in collaboration with the Pakistan Navy, has played a special role in organizing the exhibition. Nasir Shah further stated that energy is essential for the improvement of industries, and solar parks are being established across the province to ensure the supply of affordable electricity. Under the directions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, a tax-free economic zone has been created in Dhabeji for a period of 10 years, which has attracted great interest from both local and foreign investors. He said that such exhibitions help increase exports, bring foreign exchange into the country, and contribute to economic improvement. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
