Power- sharing without a major constitutional change to limit the powers of the Executive : A big farce

Power sharing without a major constitutional change to limit the powers of the executive led by the president is a farce.

Sierra Leone should not take the bate from those who betrayed their parties and sought refuge in the ruling SLPP for protection. These folks are selfish people whose primary purpose in politics is wealth and security for themselves.

Alpha Kahn is still in a state of confusion. His call for power sharing, inclusive government, and proportional representation are conflated – premised on his confused reasoning, aimed at preserving his continuation in power and the wealth and personal protection it offers him and the political class.

A proportional representation system that requires 11% of the share of votes would be impossible for parties outside of the APC and SLPP to achieve, hence this would deny smaller parties representation in power sharing. His argument is fundamentally flawed as it appears to position inclusiveness, power sharing, and proportional representation as the panacea to resolve bad leadership that leads to conflict. I reject them. The people must reject him. The solution lies in the character of the leader that the people elect into power.

The argument should address the equitable distribution of resources in all our regions fairly without party political bias. This is omitted in Alpha Kahn’s argument.

His emphasis advocating for power sharing and inclusive politics, are a different calculus from any material and economic benefits such elitist political arrangement, between the two major parties, would bring to the man on the streets.

For this reason and this reason alone I call on people to switch the light off and TV off when a disgruntled and failed APC presidential hopeful appear to bambuzze them with sweet words.

We did not have several hundred killings and extrajudicial killings in peace time under the leadership of Presidents Kabbah and Koroma. We did not have a president who threatened to” hit hard and harder” without using civil and sensible policy initiatives to address the concerns of the people.
