Nearly three weeks after a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant was found dead in his Gandhi Vihar flat, the Delhi Police have uncovered a murder plot and arrested three people, including the victim’s live-in partner. The accused have been identified as a 21-year-old Forensic Science student, her former boyfriend, and another man, all residents of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh. Investigators said the woman planned the killing with the two men and later attempted to disguise it as an accidental fire, news agency PTI reported. The victim, Ramkesh Meena, lived alone on the fourth floor of a building in Gandhi Vihar. On October 6, police and fire officials responded to a call about a suspected air-conditioner blast. Once the flames were doused, they discovered Meena’s charred body inside the apartment. During the initial probe, CCTV footage from the night of October 5 showed two masked men entering the building. Around 2.57 am, a woman was seen leaving with one of them, moments before the fire erupted. Investigators soon grew suspicious after the woman’s mobile location placed her near the crime scene. Following several raids in Moradabad, she was detained on October 18. According to PTI report, she confessed to the crime during questioning and named her two accomplices, who were later arrested. According to police sources, the woman said Meena had secretly recorded objectionable videos of her and refused to delete them. She confided in her ex-boyfriend, who, along with his friend, allegedly plotted the murder. The trio allegedly strangled Meena before dousing his body with oil, ghee, and liquor, then burned it using an open gas cylinder valve to simulate an explosion. They fled with his hard disk, laptops, and other valuables. Police have recovered several stolen items, including electronic devices and personal belongings. An investigation into the matter is underway.
