This and that: The Warriors opened exhibition play Sunday with a 111-108 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. Moody Moses scored 19 points and Stephen Curry added 14 points in the win, during which coach Steve Kerr played 18 different Golden State players. LeBron James and Luka Doncic did not play for the Lakers, but former Blazers center DeAndre Ayton started, finishing with seven points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 21 minutes. … Blazers coach Chauncey Billups said Tuesday that he had not settled on his starting lineup for the opener, but planned to experiment heavily during the Blazers’ four preseason games with an assortment of starting lineups and rotation tweaks. He might use a different lineup each game. … Jrue Holiday, who will make his Blazers debut, is expected to start at point guard but not play in the second half. … The teams last played an exhibition game in 2022 at the Chase Center. The Warriors beat the Blazers 131-98. … Golden State has won nine consecutive regular season games against Portland and eight in a row at the Chase Center. … Billups on facing the Warriors in the exhibition season: “They’re a good team to play against at this time of the year. But it’s also the most difficult team, because they play a way and they have a culture and all the off-the-ball cutting and all the (dribble hand-offs). They’re the best in the league at it — they’re the best in the world — and have been doing it 10-plus years. So it’s tough to play against a team that knows all of those things. But, also, you get a lot of education playing that way against them. So I’m glad we get a chance to play against them twice in the preseason.”
INJURIES
Blazers: Portland did not provide an injury report, but Robert Williams III (rehab) has not participated in live portions of training camp.
Warriors: De’Anthony Melton (rehab) will not play.
