A popular pub has been forced to shut following a stabbing which left a man with serious injuries. It happened outside The Bell Inn in Birmingham Road, Coleshill , at around 9.45pm on Friday, September 12. A man in his 20s suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. We have had a lot of messages recently about us being open and enquiring about events etc – all events have been cancelled and refunded. “We are temporarily closed. We will update you as soon as we know anything more “Sorry for any inconvenience, The Bell Coleshill.” North Warwickshire Borough Council confirmed it suspended the premises licence following a request from Warwickshire Police for a summary review of the licence. It said it had received ‘multiple complaints regarding anti-social behaviour and noise’ and regarding the incident on September 12. A council spokesperson said: “The Bell Inn in Coleshill is currently closed following the suspension of its premises licence by North Warwickshire Borough Council following a review called by Warwickshire Police until a full licence review hearing is held. “This hearing will take place within the next 24 days [from Tuesday, September 23]. “The suspension has been implemented in response to multiple complaints regarding anti-social behaviour and noise, including a recent serious incident.” Get the latest BirminghamLive news direct to your inbox The council said the move to temporarily shut the venue was aimed at making it safer for pubgoers and those living nearby. The council continued: “This temporary closure is a positive step towards ensuring a safer and more peaceful environment for residents and visitors. North Warwickshire Borough Council and Warwickshire Police remain committed to working closely with the community and license holders to address these concerns and support venues that contribute positively to the area. “Any person wishing to submit representations for the license review may do so in writing by contacting the Licensing team at North Warwickshire Borough Council (licensing@northwarks.gov.uk). We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation as we take these necessary actions to protect and improve our community.”
