It will be all change at a popular specialist food shop in Inverness this weekend.
Oil & Vinegar, based in Union Street, will be closing its doors in its current location this Saturday – ahead of a move across the road.
The change is being driven by the retirement of the current owners, Colin and Sandie Craig, who are stepping away from the business after more than 19 years.
But although it’s the end of an era for the Inverness franchise, it won’t be the end of the olive oil and balsamic vinegar shop’s story – as it will be reopening “soon” in new premises with a new owner.
Confirming the news in an announcement on its social pages, Oil & Vinegar said: “Due to retirement, our business closes this coming Saturday at 5pm. It’s been a journey over 19 years and time to call it a day. Thanks to all our wonderful customers, suppliers and staff who have supported us along the way.
“We have loved working with Oil and Vinegar and bringing the products to Inverness and to our online customers.
“Oil and Vinegar will be opening again soon in new premises in Inverness with a new owner!”
Customers entering the store are also being greeted by a notice detailing the plans.
It reads: “Good news – Oil & Vinegar will return under new ownership very soon across the street, which is exciting.
“We would like to thank all our wonderful customers for your support over the past 19 years.”
Customers have been paying tribute to the pair ahead of their retirement and also voicing their delight that the store will be continuing even after they step aside.
Commenting on their socials, Angus Stewart said: “Enjoy your much deserved retirement – I’ve enjoyed many treats from your shop over the years, thank you.”
Michelle Saunders added: “Happy retirement and thank you for one of the best shops in Inverness, and also glad to hear the business will be continuing.”
And Clarabell Pap added: “Take care and enjoy your retirement. We always ‘pop in’ when we are up that way on our hols – the kids love their vinegars!!”
