Popular burger restaurant in Cambridge set to close its doors

A popular Cambridgeshire burger restaurant is set to close its doors at the end of September. Steak & Honour confirmed it would be closing its only restaurant on Wheeler Street in Cambridge and handing over the building to another well-known Cambridge business.

Ice-cream parlour Jack’s Gelato will be taking over the space next month. Steak & Honour mentioned how the decision was “bittersweet” but “couldn’t think of anyone better to take over” the spot than the gelateria.

Jack’s Gelato already has two stores in the city on All Saints Passage and Bene’t Street. The Bene’t Street location is just a short walk away from the Wheeler Street building.

Steak & Honour first started as a range of takeaway vans in 2012 and opened its first physical restaurant in 2017. You will still be able to get Steak & Honour burgers in Cambridgeshire, as the business’s vans will still be seen at various venues around the county.

Steak & Honour also has an outlet at The Tivoli. The brand teased a “new Steak & Honour joint is coming” and will be sharing more information in the future.

In a post on social media, Steak & Honour said: “Some bittersweet news from us.…after 8 amazing years flipping burgers on Wheeler Street, it’s time for a little change — we’ll be closing our shop at the end of September and handing the keys over to our old pal Jack’s Gelato . We honestly couldn’t think of anyone better to take over our spot.

“We’ve had a blast serving you burgers in the heart of Cambridge, and we’re so grateful for all the love and support over the years.

“But don’t worry — it’s not goodbye! A brand new Steak & Honour joint is coming … we can’t wait to share more with you soon!

“Massive love from all of us – Here’s to new chapters, great mates, and seriously good food.”
