Police video shows accused Charlie Kirk assassin joking with officers after 2022 crash

Video recorded by police in 2022 shows , the man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk at a college campus on Sept. 10, after a car crash in St. George, Utah.
The footage obtained by The National News Desk shows Robinson speaking with officers from the , explaining how the crash happened before his mother provided insurance information.
Robinson, estimated to be around 19 years old at the time, politely described how he managed to t-bone a vehicle and seemed cooperative with the police.
He even joked about just adding oil to his vehicle before the incident occurred.
“Welcome to real life,” an officer responds.
His calm demeanor was in stark contrast to what his family described – a and in different corners of the internet.
“Friends have confirmed that there was kind of that deep, dark internet, the Reddit culture, and these other dark places of the internet where this person was going deep,” Utah Gov. Spencer Cox said during an interview on NBC.
Cox said Robinson’s loved ones cooperated with authorities, adding that a “family member” reached out to a friend and said Robinson implied he was the killer.
It was later revealed that Robinson’s father recognized his son from photos the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released as authorities searched for the suspect.
Robinson, now 22, was arrested after a 33-hour manhunt and charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, two counts of capital obstruction of justice, two counts of tampering with a witness, and violent offense committed in the presence of a child.
