Police to contact 81 drivers for committing same offence after motorway crash

A total of 81 motorists have been told to expect a letter from police after they all committed a driving offence following a crash. According to police, numerous drivers decided to use the hard shoulder to skip the queues as officers began to close the carriageway on the M60. The incident occurred as officers dealt with an incident last week and poses a warning to other drivers across the UK. Police say that the drivers prevented other emergency service vehicles from attending the scene. A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Last week GMP Traffic were dealing with a RTC on the M60 17-16. "Whilst officers implemented a closure of the carriageway numerous drivers decided to drive down the hard shoulder to skip the queue of traffic which prevented further emergency service vehicles attending the scene. "As a result, 81 drivers have been reported for offences and will be receiving a letter in the post.
