Greater Manchester Police has issued an update after one of its vehicles hit two pedestrians in Leigh . The incident took place on Wigan Road at around 9.08pm last night (September 19). According to GMP, the vehicle involved was responding to another incident when the collision took place. Both pedestrians, a 57-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man, were rushed to hospital. The road was closed off following the crash, with the scene stood down earlier this morning. GMP says the officer driving the police vehicle is supporting the investigation, while referrals have been made to the force’s Professional Standards Directorate about the incident, in line with normal procedure. Witnesses are now being urged to come forward as the investigation continues.
