Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department are investigating an early morning hit-and-run at the SWLA Center for Health Services Community Garden, located near the corner of N Prater and Opelousas streets. Sgt. Brad Puckett said upon arrival, officers observed damage to the property and found vehicle parts left at the scene. Later in the day, officers learned the driver of a 2018 Audi Q5 called for a private tow to a residence on 12th Street. Puckett said officers made contact with the owner of the vehicle, who admitted being involved in the hit-and-run. The driver was cited for hit-and-run and released on scene.
