Warrington police are investigating an unusual incident that occurred Nov. 8. They responded to a report that a man had been possibly shot inside a home. A 911 caller told authorities that a man was down in his garage in the 2200 block of Matt Way, with a firearm nearby, shortly after 6 p.m. While on route to the call, police were told that another man had been involved in an argument with the alleged victim before leaving the area in a black sedan. When officers arrived at the home, they found an open garage with a man, later identified as the 54-year-old homeowner, slumped forward on the floor with a handgun nearby. Police issued commands to the man, who appeared intoxicated and was initially unresponsive, according to a press release posted on CrimeWatch. After repeated orders, the man partially complied and was detained by police, who also secured the firearm. The weapon was not loaded and showed no signs that a shot had been fired, and a check of the home found no signs of disturbance, police said. The homeowner appeared to be heavily intoxicated, and he had a small cut on his finger, which police said explained blood found on several nearby surfaces including a neighbor’s vehicle and the man’s home. The man, who was not identified, was not shot, Chief Daniel Friel confirmed. Officers determined that the man had been removed from a local business and given a ride home. During the ride the man became belligerent toward the individual who drove him home, police said. The man was transported to the Warrington Township Police Department for further evaluation and later released to another person. There was no indication of foul play or ongoing threat to the community. No charges had been filed as of the morning of Nov. 10.
