The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Evans Ameyaw, for possessing stolen items and narcotic drugs at Buoko, near Chiraa in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region. According to a police statement, the arrest followed credible intelligence about a criminal network involved in the sale of stolen motorcycles and tricycles in the area. Acting swiftly on the information, a team from the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) conducted an intelligence-led operation on 23 October 2025, which led to the arrest of the suspect. During interrogation, Ameyaw reportedly confessed to working with others in carrying out the illegal trade. A search conducted in his residence uncovered four motorbikes, two tricycles, and seven compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. All the items have been retained as exhibits for further investigation. Police say efforts are underway to track down other members of the syndicate believed to be operating in the area. “The suspect is currently in custody and assisting police investigations, particularly in tracing the rightful owners of the stolen items to ensure they are returned,” said Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command. The Police Command assured the public of its commitment to intensifying intelligence-led operations across the region to clamp down on criminal networks dealing in stolen goods and illegal drugs.
