Police arrest suspect in double homicide at Shelby Township auto shop

SHELBY TWP., MI — Police have arrested a suspect in a double homicide after two men were found dead at a Shelby Township auto dealership. At about 5:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, Shelby Township Police tactical responders executed a search warrant at a hotel in Romulus near Detroit Metro Airport, police said in a release. They were assisted by Sterling Heights Police. The search warrant was in connection with a double homicide of two men, which occurred Friday, Nov. 7, at Star Auto Sales on Ryan Road in Shelby Township. Police have not yet identified the suspect, who is awaiting arraignment. At about 12:30 p.m. Friday, Shelby Township police responded to Star Auto Sales for a welfare check, according to a previous release. Police found a 48-year-old Clinton Township man and a 40-year-old Shelby Township man dead inside the business. Evidence was recovered from the Romulus hotel room in connection with the case, according to the release. The Utica Police Department, Michigan State Police, the Romulus Police Department and the FBI also assisted in the investigation. Shelby Township Police will hold a press conference regarding the case at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the police department, 52530 Van Dyke Road.
