Police accord conditional permission for Vijay’s meetings in Ariyalur, Perambalur

Ariyalur police on Friday accorded conditional permission to the campaign of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Vijay in Ariyalur and Perambalur on Saturday.

While granting permission, the Ariyalur police laid down 25 conditions to the organisers. As per the statement by TVK, Mr. Vijay will address the roadside meeting at Old Bus Stand in Ariyalur between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. He will then proceed to Kunnam and address the gathering at 4 p.m. His meeting at Perambalur is scheduled at 5 p.m.

According to police sources, the organisers have been asked not to accord reception at any point and use firecrackers. Mr. Vijay can address the gatherings at the designated place but he should not hold any roadshow at any point in the permitted route of travel. The event should not cause disturbances to the public and the movement of ambulances and fire tenders.

Similarly, the TVK should arrange parking facilities for vehicles coming to the event and they should not obstruct traffic. The organisers should discourage pregnant women, children, and the elderly people from participating and separate seats should be set aside for women. The organisers should make arrangements for drinking water, CCTVs, fire fighting equipment in consultation with the police and the municipal administration.
