Sushma Malhotra began writing in both Hindi and English at a young age—her first poem was published in Jalandhar newspapers when she was just 13. So far, she has published two Hindi poetry collections—“Anjuli Bhar Pushp” and “Main, Tum aur Ek Dagar”—and one English collection, “Close to My Heart.” She has also served as associate editor of the prestigious literary anthology “Dhara Ke Gagan Tak” (Vol. 2) in the USA. Her works are regularly published in several national and international journals. For her contribution to the promotion of Hindi language, literature, and culture, she has received numerous awards both in India and abroad. She is the founder of Nirmal Roshan Sahitik Manch in the United States, with her husband Dr. Ved Vyas Malhotra serving as its coordinator. Speaking about her new book, the poet said, “‘Thodi Si Dhoop’ is a heartfelt reflection of my inner emotions and life experiences. Along with elements of nature—such as day and night, seasons, moon, stars, rain, and snow—the collection also explores themes of patriotism, spirituality, festivals, and human relationships. I believe readers will find a part of themselves within these poems.” Guest of honour K.K. Sharda remarked that even while living abroad, Sushma ji has brought glory to the Hindi language and Indian culture on the global stage. Senior writer Prem Vij said the collection beautifully harmonizes nature, patriotism, spirituality, love, sacrifice, and human emotions. Poet and author Dr. Vinod Sharma added that “these poems are like rays of light that illuminate the path even in darkness and deeply touch the reader’s heart.”
