PMA user punches man until he falls to ground outside Waterloo Street temple

A personal mobility aid (PMA) user was caught on camera punching a man standing next to him outside a Waterloo Street temple on Sept 14.

Stomper Donovan shared a video of an elderly man on the PMA hitting the other man on the face until the latter fell to the ground. A third man tried to stop the assault and helped the fallen man sitting on the ground.

“My aunt went to pray at Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple and witnessed these two tissue sellers fighting,” recounted the Stomper.

“She is unsure of what happened, but they were scolding vulgarities prior to the fight.”

In the video, the PMA user can be heard swearing at the other man in Hokkien while punching him.

The Stomper said: “The police came shortly after, but I believe they did not arrest any of them.”

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at 178 Waterloo Street, the address of the temple, at about 5pm.

A 74-year-old man was conscious when taken to the hospital.

A 66-year-old man is assisting with investigations for voluntarily causing hurt.

The Stomper added: “My aunt told me that these tissue sellers often cause trouble outside the temple and advised me and my friends to not buy from them as the money would be used for cigarettes or 4D/Toto.”

Police investigations are ongoing.
