PM Modi visits UP and Rajasthan; inaugurates UP International Trade Show

Greater Noida/Banswara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on September 25, 2025, to inaugurate the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2025 and lay the foundation for key development projects, including one of India’s largest nuclear power plants in Rajasthan.

The third edition of the UP International Trade Show (September 25–29) was inaugurated by PM Modi at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. Envisioned under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the trade show aims to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s industrial, agricultural, cultural, and innovation strengths on a global platform.

The theme of UPITS 2025 is “Ultimate Sourcing Begins Here”, with three core objectives: innovation, integration, and internationalization. The event expects over 2,500 exhibitors, 500 foreign buyers, and more than half a million visitors, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s position as a global hub for business and investment.

A highlight of the show is the One District One Product (ODOP) Pavilion, featuring 343 stalls dedicated to signature products from each district, including Bhadohi carpets, Firozabad glasswork, Moradabad metalware, and Saharanpur woodcraft. Russia is participating as a partner country, promoting bilateral trade, technology exchange, and long-term cooperation.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed preparations prior to the event, emphasising “foolproof security and seamless arrangements” to ensure a smooth experience for domestic and international visitors.

“This is a significant event where entrepreneurs and visitors from across the country and abroad will participate. Proper arrangements must be made so that Uttar Pradesh projects a positive and strong image,” he said.

Security arrangements at the Expo Mart included over 2,000 police personnel, deployment across 7 zones and 20 sectors, and a 48-hour no-flying zone for drones, with a four-layer security protocol in place.

PM Modi in Rajasthan: Nuclear plant and development projects

After the UP visit, PM Modi travelled to Banswara, Rajasthan, where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth Rs 1,22,100 crore. A key highlight was the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (4×700 MW) by Anushakti Vidhyut Nigam Ltd (ASHVINI), valued at around Rs 42,000 crore.

The project will be among the largest nuclear plants in India, providing reliable base-load energy and reinforcing India’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the nuclear energy sector. The plant features four indigenous 700 MW Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors designed by NPCIL with advanced safety features. It is part of India’s broader “fleet mode” initiative, which aims to construct ten identical 700 MW reactors across the country under uniform design and procurement plans.

The project is expected to bring cost efficiencies, faster deployment, and consolidated operational expertise, while contributing to India’s energy security and Aatmanirbhar Bharat objectives.

PM Modi also addressed a public function in Banswara and interacted with beneficiaries of the PM Kusum scheme, aimed at promoting solar energy adoption in rural areas.
