Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil a series of youth-focused initiatives worth over Rs 62,000 crore aimed at boosting education, skill development, and entrepreneurship across the country on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi will unveil the projects from Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi at around 11 am.
A key highlight of the event will be the launch of PM-SETU (Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs) — a Rs 60,000 crore scheme to upgrade 1,000 Government ITIs under a hub-and-spoke model.
Managed by industry partners, these clusters will feature advanced infrastructure, digital systems, and innovation centres, with global support from the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB). The first phase will prioritise ITIs in Patna and Darbhanga.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs in Navodaya Vidyalayas and Eklavya Model Schools across 34 states/UTs, offering hands-on training in 12 high-demand sectors, including IT, automotive, agriculture, electronics, logistics and tourism. These labs are aligned with the NEP 2020 and CBSE curriculum.
In a strong push for Bihar’s development, the PM will relaunch key state schemes. PM Modi will launch Bihar’s revamped Mukhyamantri Nishchay Svyam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana, under which nearly five lakh graduate youth every year will receive a monthly allowance of Rs.1,000 for two years, along with free skill training.
The BJP leader will also launch the redesigned Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, which will provide completely interest-free education loans of up to Rs.4 lakh, significantly easing the financial burden of higher education. More than 3.92 lakh students have already availed loans worth more than Rs.7,880 crore under the scheme. Further strengthening youth empowerment in the state, Bihar Yuva Ayog, a statutory commission for people between the ages of 18 and 45, will be formally inaugurated by him to channelise and harness the energies of the state’s young population.
He will also inaugurate the Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur Skill University in Bihar, envisioned to impart industry-oriented courses and vocational education to create a globally competitive workforce.
He will also lay foundation stones for infrastructure in four Bihar universities under PM-USHA, and dedicate the NIT Patna Bihta campus, featuring a 5G lab, ISRO-backed space centre, and startup incubator.
Additionally, over 4,000 appointment letters will be distributed to newly recruited candidates in the Government of Bihar, and Rs 450 crore in scholarships will be transferred to 25 lakh Class 9 & 10 students under the Mukhyamantri Balak/Balika Scholarship Scheme.
These initiatives aim to empower India’s youth and position Bihar as a key hub for skilled talent.
