In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Plymouth Police Department has teamed up with the District Attorney’s office to host a Supply Drive, according to the Plymouth Police Department Facebook post. Aiming to aid those who have braved the tumultuous storms of domestic violence, the initiative is actively seeking donations from community members.
The call for donations is clear, those looking to contribute can offer new and unopened essential items—items like personal hygiene products including toothbrushes and travel-size shampoos, or new clothes with an emphasis on the comfort of socks, underwear, and lounge wear for both adults and children, and not to forget critical items for infants such as diapers, wipes, and unopened formula. The Police Department’s lobby at 20 Long Pond Road is housing collection bins throughout October, welcoming contributions during regular business hours, all in a bid to bring some ease to domestic violence survivors and their families.
Every gesture of support, no matter how seemingly small, has its weight in gold. It is an opportunity for neighbors to embrace one another, to lend strength in tangibility, to foster a network of care; the crosscloth of community is bound to remedy, with their participation, a testament to their solidarity with survivors.
Those who wish to contribute can do so any time during October, helping to provide a variety of essential items that afford victims a measure of comfort in their times of dire need; the Plymouth Police Department underscores the importance of community involvement and the immense impact local support can have on individuals rebuilding their lives in the aftermath of domestic violence.
