Pleasantries of politics gone as shutdown drones into day 22

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Day 21 of the Government Shutdown quickly becoming day 22. Tuesday President Trump meeting with Republican leaders… while Democrats say they’re being boxed out. “I would like to meet with both of them but I sent one little caveat. I will only meet if they will let the country open, they have to let the country open,” said the President in the Oval Office Tuesday. Earlier, he laid blame in the Rose Garden. “The radical left Democrats are holding the entire federal government hostage to appease the extremists in their party. We will not be extorted on this crazy plot,” said the President. Meanwhile democrats say all pleasantries of politics are gone. “The president’s responsibility is to bring the parties together and find a way to make the government run and get a budget done,” said New Jersey Democratic Senator Cory Booker. “I’m stunned that he has been unwilling to invite Schumer and leader Jeffries off to have that kind of conversation.” While democrats roam empty halls of congress, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson says there’s good reason house Republicans are absent. “They have been out doing very essential, very important work in their districts and their constituents,” said Speaker Mike Johnson. “I mean, they’ve been everywhere because they’ve got to help cover the bases for the crisis that’s been created by the Democrats.”
