Player Ratings: Inter Milan 2-0 Lazio - Zaccagni Can’t Do it All By Himself

Unlike last season, Lazio came away empty-handed from their San Siro venture, as they suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan. The Nerazzurri had the upper hand from the get-go, scoring the opener after two minutes of play through Lautaro Martinez. The Biancocelesti’s response was rather tame, and it was the home side that added another goal in the second period through Ange Bonny. Here are our ratings for the Lazio players whose positive run ended after being outclassed by their Inter counterparts. Lazio XI (4-3-3) Ivan Provedel – 6 The Italian goalkeeper produced a few routine saves, and wasn’t at fault on either Inter goal. His clean-sheet streak has finally come to an end after four matches. Manuel Lazzari – 5.5 The Italian full-back managed to limit Federico Dimarco’s threat in the first half, but this became an increasingly daunting task as the match progressed. Mario Gila – 6 The Spaniard wasn’t able to close in on Lautaro in time to block the shot on the opener. He thought he scored in the 76th minute after heading the ball past Yann Sommer, but goal-line technology proved it didn’t completely cross the line. Alessio Romagnoli – 5.5 The former Milan captain passed an athletic test to preserve his starting spot, but lost track of Bonny’s run on the second goal. Adam Marusic – 6 A solid outing at the back from the Montenegrin, who held his own against Denzel Dumfries and made important interventions at the back. Matteo Guendouzi – 6 The Frenchman ran his socks off, but had a limited impact in the final third. Danilo Cataldi – 5.5 The Regista was outclassed and outrun by his Inter counterparts. This was one of those rare occasions where Sarri decided to haul him off in the middle of the second half. Toma Basic – 6.5 The Croatian didn’t look out of depth at all, as he managed to go toe-to-toe with Nicolo Barella. He even managed to deny the Italian international with a timely intervention after sprinting back to save the day. Gustav Isaksen – 5 The Dane was the main culprit on the opener, as he allowed Alessandro Bastoni to bully him off the ball. He tried to atone for his mistake on the opposite end of the pitch, but it never happened. Boulaye Dia – 5 Another anonymous display from the Senegalese striker who hasn’t been able to impose himself as a genuine goal threat during Taty Castellanos’ absence. Mattia Zaccagni – 7 The Lazio captain was battered by his opponents throughout the match, as the only way to stop him was to commit a foul. Three Inter players were booked for this particular reason, while others were unfairly spared. Put Pellegrini through with a lovely through ball in the final minutes. Substitutes Matias Vecino – 5.5 The Uruguayan hardly made himself noticeable against his former employers. Tijjani Noslin – 5.5 Perhaps a slight upgrade on Dia, as he at least managed to forge a shot on target, but his effort was too tame to trouble Sommer. Pedro – 6 The veteran came this close to wreaking havoc at San Siro once more, delivering the free-kick that was almost converted to a goal by Gila. Luca Pellegrini – 6 The left-back could have done better when he found himself one-on-one with Sommer, but at least he had the desire to drive forward. Oliver Provstgaard – N/A
