With the holiday season approaching, Placer County Health and Human Services is promoting ways for the community to spread cheer to those in need—including kids and furry friends. For comfort in times of crisis, the Placer County Older Adults Advisory Commission has launched a stuffed toy drive. These toys will be handed out by first responders in traumatic situations. Until November 30, locals can drop off new stuffed animals to any of the fifteen-plus designated spots around the county. Additionally, unique wishes of foster and other HHS-served children are being collected—an initiative The Goularte Group has entered its third year of organizing. The official website enables good Samaritans to pick a kiddo and buy the desired present. A festive handover will play out at the annual holiday event, scheduled for December 13 at the Loomis Train Depot. Unwrapped gifts will receive gathering from donors at this event, where festivities will go down. "Year after year, our community's generosity shines," Dr. Rob Oldham, director of Health and Human Services, told Placer County. His comments underscore the continued efforts to light up the holidays in Placer County. Echoing this sentiment, local animal lovers can look forward to the Placer County Animal Services shelter setting up their giving tree in December. For those wishing to offer more than presents, monetary contributions can bolster the shelter's resources. Details regarding financial donations and a general wish list are accessible on the PCAS website.
