Phoenix Collegiate students race to success at Aintree STEM challenge

The school’s team – made up of five current students and two former pupils – has spent the past two years designing and building their very own electric race car from a kit. Their hard work paid off when they competed against 35 other teams in an endurance challenge, aiming to complete the most laps at the highest speed.

Thanks to the generous support of sponsors The Hadley Group, who provided financial backing, contacts, and expert advice, and the University of Wolverhampton, who contributed both design expertise and guidance from their professional race car drivers, the Phoenix Collegiate team was well prepared for the challenge.

The young engineers completed 34 laps in total, achieving an impressive fastest lap time of 4 minutes and 17 seconds.

This achievement not only highlights the technical skills and determination of the Phoenix Collegiate students but also demonstrates the power of collaboration between schools, industry, and higher education in inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators.
