Peter Andre has launched a defence of nepo babies. The singer, 52, was writing in his column for New magazine, and defended Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple, who recently starred in a Gap campaign with her mum. Peter’s 18-year-old daughter, Princess, has just landed another two series of her reality show, The Princess Diaries – and he says he doesn’t think “young people in the entertainment industry” should be singled out. “Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s daughter Apple has had to deal with accusations that she’s a ‘nepo baby’ and I can understand her frustration,” he wrote. “At the end of the day, whether it’s a family of actors, dentists, accountants, teachers, anything, chances are one of the kids in the family will want to follow in their parents’ footsteps because they’ve been around it all their lives. “I don’t know why we single out young people in the entertainment industry for criticism. “Like I’ve always said, even if someone has an opportunity offered to them, they have to work hard and be talented to succeed long term.” Peter’s son Junior is also reportedly in talks to star in his first reality TV show, following the success of his sister’s ITV2 series The Princess Diaries. The 20-year-old, who made his music debut in 2021 with viral hit Slide, is said to have been approached to take part in a celebrity edition of BBC One’s Race Across the World. The popular travel competition challenges contestants to cross continents without using air travel, phones or internet, surviving on limited cash and their problem-solving skills. Previous series have seen competitors race from London to Singapore and from Japan to Indonesia. A source told The Sun: “Junior was approached after BBC bosses watched Princess’s show – he came across really well and they know his fans would tune in if he was on it! Junior is considering the offer – and who to race with.” While the celebrity version often pairs famous faces with relatives, insiders suggest Junior may choose a close friend rather than either of his parents Peter Andre or Katie Price. Speaking recently to The Standard, Junior said he would love to document life on the road once his music career takes him global. “When I’m touring the world I’d love to document it. That would be so fun — seeing behind the scenes of getting ready for a show, rehearsals backstage, what goes wrong and what goes right. So much goes into it.”
