STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Pete Davidson is teaming up with Amazon for a new ad campaign promoting the launch of Alexa+, the company’s next-generation AI assistant. In the first spot, titled “Pete Davidson books a ride with the all-new Alexa+,” the Staten Island native starts his morning with a cup of coffee and a mild identity crisis. “You know, I’ve been thinking … maybe I should just go by Peter now?” he muses to Alexa. The two banter over possible nicknames — “Petey,” “Little P,” “Big D” and “Double P” — before Davidson ultimately decides to stick with the classic. “Pete. I like it,” Alexa says approvingly. “I like you too,” Pete replies with a smile. The second ad, “Pete Davidson fixes his sink with the all-new Alexa+,” finds him crouched under a cabinet, armed with the wrong tools. “Uh, I need help fixing my sink,” he tells Alexa. When asked if he has a pipe wrench, Davidson holds up a scrub brush. “Maybe I should schedule a plumber on Thumbtack,” Alexa replies. “Good call,” he says. “You da man!” According to Amazon, Alexa+ is its most advanced and proactive AI assistant yet, designed for more natural back-and-forth exchanges. It can help users manage their homes, plan their schedules, discover entertainment, and connect with thousands of services like Uber and Thumbtack. Alexa+ is available for free with Prime membership or as a paid monthly subscription for non-members. The Amazon campaign marks another addition to Davidson’s growing list of projects. The comedian is set to star in “That Time We Met,” a romantic comedy opposite “Fallout” star Ella Purnell. Davidson has been steadily expanding his acting résumé, starring earlier this year in the horror film “The Home” and the action-comedy “The Pickup,” alongside Eddie Murphy.
