Perth serial fraudster sentenced to 14 years over defrauding his investors

A West Australian Supreme Court judge has sentenced Perth businessman Chris Marco to 14 years over defrauding his clients of millions of dollars, investing their money into overseas scams and hedging their investments in real estate and luxury cars. Marco was sentenced in the WA Supreme Court on Thursday, after he was found guilty on all 43 charges by a jury in September. Marco was charged by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in July 2022, following a long investigation into his financial business. Investigators said Marco had defrauded clients of about $30 million after investing in dubious high-return schemes overseas, and had not told a number of his clients he was hedging their investments against property and cars.
