TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pertamina Patra Niaga Central Java Region (JBT) urges the Indonesian public to be more cautious about the circulation of fake LPG cylinders. This follows the exposure of cases of falsification and misuse of subsidized LPG in the Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, Indonesia.The case was revealed by the Directorate of Certain Criminal Acts (Dittipidter) of the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), which successfully uncovered the practice of injecting 3 kg subsidized LPG gas into non-subsidized cylinders. From the operation, the authorities found a total of 1,697 LPG cylinders misused by the perpetrators.Taufiq Kurniawan, Area Manager of Communication, Relations, & CSR at Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional JBT, expressed appreciation for the police's swift action in dealing with the perpetrators, while also reminding the public not to be easily enticed by LPG prices below market value.'We urge the public to always purchase LPG from Pertamina's official outlets and ensure the authenticity of the product by checking the official hologram seal on the cylinder. If the seal does not display data when scanned, then the product should be suspected as fake,' Taufiq told journalists in Solo City on Sunday, November 2, 2025.He emphasized that the practice of transferring the contents of subsidized LPG cylinders to non-subsidized cylinders not only harms the state but also endangers public safety because the injection process is conducted without proper safety standards.Taufiq further stated that Pertamina continues to strengthen the supervision of subsidized LPG distribution in collaboration with the police and the Department of Trade. In addition, Pertamina is implementing the Smart LPG Subsidy program, where the purchase of 3 kg LPG is now integrated with the Population Identification Number (NIK) to ensure that the subsidy is truly enjoyed by eligible citizens.Through the official website https://subsiditepat.mypertamina.id, the public can check the location of Pertamina's official outlets in their respective areas.'We invite the public to actively help ensure that subsidized LPG is used for its intended purpose. Let's work together to ensure that subsidized LPG is truly enjoyed by those who are entitled,' he concluded.In the case of LPG misuse, the Dittiipidter of Bareskrim Polri has arrested three suspects for misusing 1,697 units of 3-kg subsidized LPG cylinders in Sukoharjo, Central Java. The police have named three suspects who refilled the subsidized LPG cylinders into non-subsidized ones.Brigadier General Mohammad Irhamni, Directorate of Certain Criminal Acts Bareskrim, stated that the perpetrators refilled the subsidized LPG into non-subsidized cylinders to resell at higher prices. The turnover from the business, which had been running for six months, reached around Rp9 billion.
