Perplexity CEO Warns Users Against AI Girlfriends: Here's What He Said

AI girlfriends are being used on a mass level by males all around the globe, belonging to different age groups. While we already know that the practice is not a very healthy one, now, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has also issued a warning against the same. In a fireside chat hosted by The Polsky Center at the University of Chicago, Perplexity CEO said that the AI girlfriends and anime-inspired chatbots carry heavy psychological risk and dubbed them dangerous. Perplexity CEO's Take On Aravind Srinivas Aravind Srinivas explained that these AI systems are developing to a pretty advanced system with the capability to remember conversations and deliver response in human-like tonality. He said, 'That’s dangerous by itself.' Furthermore, he added, 'Many people feel real life is more boring than these things and spend hours and hours of time.' Srinivas also said that this kind of a deep connection can distort perception and leave people 'living in a different reality' where 'your mind is manipulable very easily.' That's not it, he also made it very clear that Perplexity AI has no plans to bring any chatbots or AI girlfriends in the future. According to him, Perplexity AI will be aiming to be in sync with trustworthy sources and real-time content instead of trapping people in a loop where they seek emotional companionship from algorithms.
