People are being advised to plan ahead as over 120,000 visitors are set to descend on Derry this week for Europe’s biggest Halloween festival. Events are running in the city until Thursday with the annual Carnival Parade and Fireworks finale taking pace on Friday. In order to keep disruption to a minimum throughout Halloween festivities in Derry, a number of road closures, parking restrictions and diversions will be in place. People are being urged to plan ahead and use public transport where possible, with additional services being operated by Translink on Halloween night, both to and from the city and local services. Motorists are advised to expect some delays and diversions in the City Centre until Friday. Festival and Events Manager with Derry City and Strabane District Council, Jacqueline Whoriskey, is appealing to people to also follow the guidance of stewards and the PSNI who are there to keep the event running smoothly and everyone safe. More information regarding traffic and travel as well as the full programme of events is available on derryhalloween.com.
