Gary Wellings, of Milton Street, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent at Wolverhampton Crown Court yesterday.
Wellings, 32, admitted maliciously wounding a man in New Street on January 22, 2023.
Wellings who was armed with a broken glass bottle when he viciously attacked his victim. He left his victim with serious cuts and bruises.
He will be sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on October 22.
Judge Sunil Khanna allowed Wellings remain on unconditional bail until his sentencing hearing.
He said: “This offence is so serious you could be facing a custodial sentence. I am adjourning this case until October 22 so a pre-sentence report can be carried out.
“You need to work with the probation service in the weeks ahead and I know there will also be psychiatric evaluations carried out as well concerning your mental health.”
