Juggling work-life balance is one of the most commonly talked about things on the internet. A Reddit post by a Gurugram techie has sparked a similar debate, after the individual said they rejected a high-paying job in Bengaluru due to concerns over high workload and relocation.
“I got 2 offers, one is from an MNC for 38 LPA and another is from a top OTT platform in India for 45 LPA, but I needed to move to Bangalore away from my current location, which is Gurgaon,” the user wrote in their post on Reddit.
“Work pressure was high there (Bengaluru). I rejected it, and feeling guilty. Should I choose money or stability?” they added.
The user shared their career trajectory, where they worked at a service-based MNC for four months at 3.8 LPA, then moved their way up by switching between three jobs to their current role at a product-based MNC with a 38 LPA salary.

“Did I do the right thing leaving 45 LPA, which is 7 LPA more than my current offer?” the user said. “My tech stack is MERN since starting, I never learned DSA except basics like Array, Stack, Queue.”
The post led to polarising responses from netizens. While some appreciated him for choosing peace over his workload, others expressed concerns about leaving such a high-paying opportunity that could impact his career.
“You did the right thing,” a user wrote. Another commented, “38 itself is quite a big amount. So you did the right thing by choosing peace over high workload. You’ll get another opportunity next year to take a shot on 50.”
“I think after a certain LPA, work culture and WLB play a higher role in selecting offers. Everyone have that benchmark LPA. Mine is 20-25LPA, once I reach there, I would try to focus on “settling” rather than hustling for the higher CTC, because after a certain point, it’s not worth it risking your peace of mind for money,” a user commented.
“There is no culture of rest and vest anymore. You’ll have to work your ass off in both MNC or indian OTT,” another netizen wrote.
